INDIANAPOLIS (Dec. 21, 2015) – State Rep. Todd Huston (R-Fishers) is encouraging Hoosier students to apply for the Indiana House Page Program.
Students 13 to 18 years old are offered the chance to visit the Statehouse and see a full day of legislative activity. In addition to visiting the Statehouse, pages have the opportunity to tour locations like the governor’s office, the Indiana Supreme Court, and the House and Senate chambers. Pages also have an opportunity to observe the legislative session as well as help staff members.
“I highly recommend this program to any student interested in state government or learning more about the legislative process. Each session I look forward to meeting all the student pages that participate in the program from our community,” Huston said. “This program offers a unique experience to visit and learn about the Statehouse, and I hope that every student takes advantage of this incredible opportunity.”
Huston said students who are interested in the page program are encouraged to schedule their visit as soon as possible. Students who serve as pages are excused from school for the day and are responsible for their own transportation to and from the Statehouse. Session starts Jan. 5, and runs through the second week of March. Recommended days to serve include Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays when the House is in session.
