STATEHOUSE – State Representative Bob Morris (R-Fort Wayne) attended the House Enrolled Act (HEA) 1035 bill signing today at One Click Ventures in Greenwood. Rep. Morris co-authored the legislation concerning regional economic development which was signed into law by Governor Mike Pence.

HEA 1035 requires the Indiana Economic Development Corporation to conduct an assessment of Indiana's regional metropolitan areas.

“It is important for us to study and have a better understanding of our state’s economic and financial needs,” said Rep. Morris. “HEA 1035 will help us develop successful economic development plans for Indiana that create more jobs and build a better future for Hoosiers.”

This assessment would analyze the economic potential of each of Indiana’s regional cities, provide a report on the needs of each regional city and also provide recommendations on initiatives and improvements that will lead to regional economic growth.

“Indiana is already an economic oasis in the Midwest, but this legislation takes further steps toward making us the best in the nation,” said Rep. Morris. “HEA 1035 will make Indiana’s regional cities more attractive for business. It is important for us to have an economic plan that is catered to each of these regions’ diverse strengths and needs.”
