STATEHOUSE (March 9, 2022) – State Reps. Jeff Ellington (R-Bloomfield) and Bob Heaton (R-Terre Haute) recently welcomed local students to the Statehouse where they participated in the Indiana House Page Program.

Ezgi Kadi, from Bloomington, attends Bloomington North High School. Chrislyn Miller, also from Bloomington, is a freshman at Edgewood High School.

Kadi and Miller toured offices of all branches of government in the Statehouse, helped staff with daily responsibilities and joined Ellington and Heaton on the House floor to witness the legislative process.

"Serving as a page provides students a front-row look at state government," Ellington said. "I'm appreciative of all the hard work pages put in, and hope they enjoyed their time exploring and learning more about the Statehouse. The experience is a great way to increase civic-mindedness among young Hoosiers."

Heaton said students between the ages of 13 and 18 should consider participating during the 2023 session.

"The page program is a tremendous opportunity to witness the legislative process up close and see how laws are made that affect all Hoosiers," Heaton said. "It's an experience that can inspire our students to consider public service when they're older."
