STATEHOUSE (Sept. 15, 2026) – Monroe County legislators are encouraging local students to apply for the Indiana House Republican Internship Program for the 2027 legislative session.
State Rep. Dave Hall (R-Norman) said this paid, full-time internship is open to college students, recent graduates and students in law or graduate school from January through April.
"Interns are an important part of our team during session and have a chance to contribute to work that impacts communities across Indiana," Hall said. "For students interested in law or government, this is an opportunity to gain real experience while contributing to work that makes a difference for Hoosiers."
State Rep. Bob Heaton (R-Terre Haute) said interns work in the Statehouse in downtown Indianapolis full-time Monday through Friday during the legislative session and gain practical knowledge of state government through active participation in the legislative process.
"The skills students develop at the Statehouse can serve them well no matter what their career path may be," Heaton said. "The fast-paced, professional environment empowers them with skills that transfer to whatever opportunity they take next."
Positions are available in legislative operations, policy and communications.
The spring semester internship gives interested students opportunities to interact with state legislators, state agencies and private sector organizations, as well as participate in a weekly speaker series featuring Indiana civic leaders.
Applications are available online at indianahouserepublicans.com/internship and are due by Oct. 31.
