Doug Miller's (R-Elkhart) (seated, left) legislation into law to increase local housing options throughout the state Monday, May 22, 2023, at the Indiana Statehouse. The new law will create the Residential Housing Infrastructure Assistance Program, which will serve as a revolving loan fund to help local governments cover the costs of housing infrastructure projects like water distribution systems, sanitary sewer systems, and electric or gas distribution lines. Miller said the goal is to encourage developers to build more housing, particularly in rural and small communities.
