STATEHOUSE (April 27, 2023) – State Rep. Wendy McNamara (R-Evansville) recently welcomed local students to the Statehouse where they participated in the Indiana House Page Program during the 2023 legislative session.

As pages, the students assisted lawmakers and staff with daily duties, toured offices of all branches of government in the Statehouse, and joined McNamara on the House floor to witness and learn about the legislative process.

"Students gain experience through assisting lawmakers with their day-to-day work," McNamara said. "Students who serve as pages to get a firsthand look at how the legislature operates, and I hope to see more young Hoosiers join me at the Statehouse next session."

These area students served as pages during the 2023 legislative session:

  • Maggie McCutchan, from Mount Vernon, attends North Posey High School;
  • Scott Russell, from Mount Vernon, attends Mount Vernon High School;
  • Rylee Schmuck, from Mount Vernon, attends Mount Vernon Senior High School; and
  • Emerson Walker, from Evansville, attends Mount Vernon Junior High School.

McNamara said students ages 13 to 18 should consider participating during the 2024 legislative session.
