STATEHOUSE (Nov. 30, 2018) – State Rep. Wendy McNamara (R-Evansville) was recently appointed to serve as chair of the House Courts and Criminal Code Committee.
McNamara first began serving as vice chair of the committee during the 2011 legislative session. In her tenure, McNamara has authored and supported legislation focused on increasing public safety, reforming juvenile justice programs and preventing human trafficking.
“In my experience serving on this committee and with my background as an educator, I know the role the courts can play in the lives of Hoosiers, especially those in the juvenile justice system,” McNamara said. “I look forward to taking on this new role and working toward maintaining public safety, reducing recidivism and supporting a fair justice system.”
Standing committee appointments are made biennially after each election. Committee hearings, which typically occur at the Statehouse in Indianapolis, can be viewed live online at iga.in.gov. This site also provides committee calendars and meeting agendas.
