STATEHOUSE (Aug. 3, 2021) – State Rep. Peggy Mayfield (R-Martinsville) was recently appointed to serve as a member of the Interim Study Committee on Public Policy, which is scheduled to meet Aug. 5 at the Indiana Statehouse.
The Interim Study Committee on Public Policy will examine legislative solutions for out-of-state licensed professionals working in Indiana. The meeting is set for 1 p.m. on Thursday in Room 431 at the Indiana Statehouse in Indianapolis. Members of the public can attend in person and provide testimony on this topic, or view the meeting online at iga.in.gov.
"Attracting licensed practitioners from out of state could help Indiana's employers and our economy," Mayfield said. "We'll take a look at various licensing requirements to see how we can improve and streamline their transition when moving to our state."
In addition to the Interim Study Committee on Public Policy, Mayfield will serve on the Commission on Hispanic/Latino Affairs and the Indiana Commission for Women.
Throughout the summer and fall, Indiana state legislators serve on interim study committees where they work on policy, examine top issues, gather testimony and recommend legislation ahead of the legislative session kicking off in January.
Members of the public are welcomed to attend and testify at committee hearings, which typically occur at the Statehouse in Indianapolis. Hearings are also livestreamed and archived online at iga.in.gov, where committee calendars and meeting agendas are posted.
