STATEHOUSE (Dec. 30, 2020) – State Rep. Peggy Mayfield (R-Martinsville) was recently appointed to serve as vice chair of the House Public Policy Committee.

She will also serve on the House Financial Institutions and Insurance Committee, and the House Committee on Ways and Means. As a member of Ways and Means, Mayfield will play a key role in drafting the state's next biennial budget.

"Even though the state's economic outlook is poised to rebound faster than the nation as a whole, lawmakers know it will be a challenge to appropriately fund core services while also maintaining sufficient reserves for another unexpected downturn," Mayfield said. "But I'm confident we'll craft a biennial budget that prioritizes the needs of Hoosiers."

Mayfield served on the House Insurance Committee during the last legislative session, which was combined with the House Financial Institutions Committee this year.

House standing committees will meet throughout the legislative session, which is scheduled to kick off Jan. 4.
