Mayfield laces up sneakers to fight cancer
STATEHOUSE (Jan. 19, 2016) – State Rep. Peggy Mayfield (R-Martinsville) paired her sneakers with her suit today at the Statehouse to help raise cancer awareness.
“Having been personally affected by the loss of my mother to cancer and other family members who are cancer survivors, I feel it’s important to support the nearly 35,000 Hoosiers who are diagnosed with cancer each year and celebrate those who have overcome this disease,” Mayfield said. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to help raise awareness about cancer, which affect so many.”
The Suits and Sneakers challenge is an annual event sponsored by the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches to help raise cancer awareness and support those affected by the disease.
