STATEHOUSE (May 4, 2023) – State Reps. Peggy Mayfield (R-Martinsville) and Craig Haggard (R-Mooresville) recently welcomed local students to the Statehouse where they participated in the Indiana House Page Program during the 2023 legislative session.

As pages, the students assisted lawmakers and staff with daily duties, toured offices of all branches of government in the Statehouse, and joined Mayfield and Haggard on the House floor to witness and learn about the legislative process.

"It's always great to see young Hoosiers from back home come to the Statehouse and get a front row seat to the legislative process," Mayfield said. "The page program offers an exciting way to bring what they're learning in the classroom to life."

These area students served as pages during the 2023 legislative session:

  • Alex Alcala, from Mooresville, attends Mooresville Christian Academy;
  • Cody Amos, from Mooresville, attends Paul Hadley Middle School;
  • Fallyn Conway, from Martinsville, attends Martinsville High School;
  • Mya Thompson, from Mooresville, attends Cascade Middle School;
  • Caleb Wright, (pictured with State Rep. J.D. Prescott of Union City), from Bloomington, attends Tabernacle Christian School; and
  • Jacob Wright, from Bloomington, attends Tabernacle Christian School.

"I appreciate local students taking an interest in state government," Haggard said. "Their time at the Statehouse serves as a great hands-on learning experience."

Haggard said students ages 13 to 18 should consider participating during the 2024 legislative session.
