STATEHOUSE (Jan. 7, 2025) – Applications are open for the Indiana House Page Program during the 2025 legislative session at the Statehouse in Indianapolis, according to Marion County lawmakers.
State Rep. Bob Behning (R-Indianapolis) said Hoosier students ages 13 to 18 are invited to spend the day assisting lawmakers and staff, touring the Indiana Statehouse and listening in on the legislative session.
"Serving as a page during the legislative session is a great, hands-on lesson in civics for young Hoosiers," Behning said. "I encourage interested students to apply as soon as possible, as openings are limited and fill up quickly."
Applications can be found at IndianaHouseRepublicans.com/PageProgram along with available days during the 2025 legislative session, which starts Jan. 8 and must end by April 29.
"This program is a good opportunity for students to learn more about how the laws that impact all Hoosiers are made," said State Rep. Andrew Ireland (R-Indianapolis). "With session starting soon, those who are eligible shouldn't wait to apply."
"I enjoy meeting students from my district who serve as pages during session," said State Rep. Julie McGuire (R-Indianapolis). "They get to participate in a professional setting and have an inside look of the Statehouse."
State Rep. Chris Jeter (R-Fishers) said interested students will have the opportunity to page on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays during the legislative session and will receive an excused absence from school. Large groups can participate on Wednesdays only. To schedule a group, contact the page program director at 317-232-9410 or pageprogram@iga.in.gov.
"Learning about Indiana's government early on can leave a huge impact, especially when students have a front row seat to the lawmaking process," Jeter said. "I would love to have the opportunity to meet young Hoosiers from our district and show them how their state government works."
Students are responsible for their own lunch and transportation to and from the Statehouse in Indianapolis.
