STATEHOUSE (April 23, 2020) – Logansport and Cass County will receive a combined $250,000 in coronavirus relief to support rural Hoosiers, according to State Rep. Ethan Manning (R-Denver).
"This is an encouraging step for Cass County as we work tirelessly to beat this virus," Manning said. "Our local leaders have risen to the challenge to identify COVID-19 cases in our area and make sure some of our most vulnerable populations have access to essential goods. This extra funding will help further their efforts to help push through this storm."
He said Cass County and Logansport Memorial Hospital were awarded $150,000 to provide COVID-19 testing at the Cass County Fairgrounds to county residents. Special hours will be set aside for those that are seniors aged 62 and older.
Logansport is receiving $100,000 to deliver meals in partnership with the United Way of Cass County.
Last month, Gov. Eric Holcomb issued Executive Order 20-05, which allowed the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs to redirect Community Development Block Grant funds to assist with COVID-19 needs. As a result, the COVID-19 Response Program was created to address the immediate impacts of the public health emergency on Indiana’s rural communities.
