STATEHOUSE (June 20, 2018) — State Rep. Jim Lucas (R- Seymour) was recently selected to serve on the Interim Study Committee on Public Policy, which examines assigned topic, gathers testimony and recommends potential legislation.

“I am looking forward to taking a look at the gaming industry in the state due to the recent U.S. Supreme Court decision striking down the federal law banning sports betting,” Lucas said. “Interim study committees give us the chance to hear the thoughts and opinions of experts and the public. This summer will help us lay the groundwork for bills that we could introduce next session.”

Lucas said interim study committee hearings, which typically occur at the Statehouse in Indianapolis, can be viewed live online at iga.in.gov. This site also provides committee calendars and meeting agendas. Members of the public are welcomed to attend and testify.

Lucas will also serve as a member of the Military Base Planning Council.
