STATEHOUSE (Sept. 12, 2016) – State Rep. Jim Lucas (R-Seymour) received an award for conservative excellence from the American Conservative Union Foundation in its 2016 ratings of the Indiana General Assembly.
Lucas received a perfect score for voting most consistently with the ideals articulated in the U.S. Constitution: limited and transparent government, individual rights and personal responsibility. The foundation researches and selects a range of bills that determine a member’s adherence to conservative principles, and issues a yearly scorecard for all 50 state legislative bodies.
“I try to best represent my district and put their values at the forefront of my voting decisions,” Lucas said. “I look forward to supporting conservative principles in the upcoming legislative session.”
According to the foundation, 39 state representatives and 21 state senators in Indiana scored between 90 and 100 percent. This marks the fifth year the group rated the General Assembly.
State Rep. Jim Lucas (R-Seymour) represents portions of Bartholomew, Jackson, Jennings and Jefferson counties.
