STATEHOUSE (June 21, 2018) — Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch presented a Golden Hoosier Award to Maureen Hall of Warsaw at the Statehouse Thursday for her service and commitment to the community, according to State Sen. Ryan Mishler (R-Bremen) and State Rep. Dave Wolkins (R-Warsaw).
“I would like to congratulate Maureen Hall on being named a recipient of the 2018 Golden Hoosier Award,” Mishler said. “Her dedication to serving Warsaw is admirable, and I am proud to have her as part of our community.”
As a dedicated volunteer, Mishler said Hall has touched countless lives of those in her community and throughout Indiana while making Warsaw a stronger, happier community. In 2001, she was recognized as the Kosciusko County Woman of the Year.
A former member of the Salvation Army Board of Directors and the Kosciusko County Community Foundation, Hall now works with adults with disabilities through Cardinal Services, delivering food through Mobile Meals to the less fortunate and volunteering at RedBird Art Studio.
“Actress and humanitarian Audrey Hepburn once said, ‘As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands – one for helping yourself, the other for helping others,’” Wolkins said. “If I didn’t know better, I’d say Maureen has four hands, because she volunteers in so many ways for the people in our community. I’ve known Maureen since childhood and I’m continually overwhelmed by her energy and the amount of time she gives of herself to others. She’s truly one of a kind and deserves this honor.”
The lieutenant governor’s office accepts nominations each year for the Golden Hoosier Awards. The award recognizes outstanding Hoosiers for their lifetime of service to their communities, and is the highest honor bestowed on those in Indiana who are at least 65 years old.
State Sen. Ryan Mishler (R-Bremen) represents Senate District 9,
which includes portions of Kosciusko, Marshall, Elkhart and St. Joseph counties.
State Rep. Dave Wolkins (R-Warsaw) represents House District 18,
which includes all of Wabash County and portions of Kosciusko, Miami and Grant counties.
