STATEHOUSE (March 18, 2022) – State Reps. Peggy Mayfield (R-Martinsville) and Beau Baird (R-Greencastle) recently welcomed local students to the Statehouse where they participated in the Indiana House Page Program.

The students toured offices of all branches of government in the Statehouse, helped staff with daily responsibilities and joined Mayfield and Baird on the House floor to witness the legislative process.

"Taking part in the page experience is quite rewarding and gives students the chance to meet leaders from across Indiana," Mayfield said. "I always enjoy seeing students from my district engage in state government and leave with a better understanding of the legislative process."

These area students served as pages during the 2022 legislative session:

Baird said students between the ages of 13 and 18 should consider participating during the 2023 session.

"Serving as a page can really be an informative educational opportunity," Baird said. "It allows students to explore the Statehouse, interact with and assist their local representative, and meet others with similar interests from their community."
