STATEHOUSE (March 14, 2024) – State Reps. Bruce Borders (R-Jasonville) and Bob Heaton (R-Terre Haute) recently welcomed Sullivan High School students Lillie Jenkinson of Merom and Katherine Sarver of Terre Haute to the Statehouse, where they participated in the Indiana House Page Program during the 2024 legislative session.

"There's so much that can be learned about our legislative process," Borders said. "Serving as a page is a good way to witness how legislation is debated and molded into law, as well as get a better understanding of how state government works and of Indiana's history."

As pages, the students assisted lawmakers and staff with daily duties, toured offices of all branches of government in the Statehouse, and joined lawmakers on the House floor to witness and learn about the legislative process.

"Pages get an inside look at how laws are made in Indiana," Heaton said. "It's a great hands-on learning experience, and I hope to see more local students take advantage of the opportunity in future sessions."

Students ages 13 to 18 should consider participating during the 2025 legislative session. Contact Borders at h45@iga.in.gov or Heaton at h46@iga.in.gov for more information on the Indiana House Page Program.
