STATEHOUSE (March 13, 2024) – State Reps. Cindy Ledbetter (R-Newburgh) and Shane Lindauer (R-Jasper) recently welcomed Pike County students to the Statehouse where they participated in the Indiana House Page Program during the 2024 legislative session.
"Paging offers a unique opportunity for students to get a firsthand look at the legislative session, and I'm excited that young people from our community are taking advantage of the program," Ledbetter said. "I'm glad to see students so engaged and eager to assist staff and legislators, and I hope they enjoyed their trip."
As pages, the students assisted lawmakers and staff with daily duties, toured offices of all branches of government in the Statehouse, and joined lawmakers on the House floor to witness and learn about the legislative process.
Area students serving as pages during the 2024 legislative session were Callie Jo Craig from Petersburg and Isaiah Harvey from Winslow, who attend Pike Central Middle School.
Lindauer said students ages 13 to 18 should consider participating during the 2025 legislative session.
"Having students from our community visit the Statehouse is always a highlight of each session," Lindauer said. "I'm pleased to see the next generation take such an interest in state government and the legislative process."
