STATEHOUSE (March 30, 2023) – State Reps. Michelle Davis (R-Whiteland) and Robb Greene (R-Shelbyville) welcomed local students to the Statehouse where they participated in the Indiana House Page Program.
As pages, the students assisted lawmakers and staff with daily duties, toured offices of all branches of government in the Statehouse, and joined lawmakers on the House floor to witness and learn about the legislative process.
"It's great to see so many Hoosier students spending time at the Statehouse to learn about their state government," Davis said. "Civic responsibility is so important, and paging is an opportunity to develop a passion for service."
These area students served as pages during the first half of the 2023 legislative session:
"Paging is a great way to get a closer look at how elected officials serve at the state level," Greene said. "This program truly is a rewarding experience for both students and legislators, and I hope to see more young Hoosiers from our community at the Statehouse."
Greene said page positions are still open for students ages 13 to 18 to sign up and spend a day at the Indiana Statehouse during the 2023 legislation session. Pages will receive an excused absence from school and can participate in groups. Opportunities to page are available on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout session, which must conclude by the end of April. Students are responsible for their lunch, and transportation to and from the Statehouse.
Hoosiers can visit indianahouserepublicans.com/pageprogram or call 1-800-382-9841 to sign up their student to participate.
