STATEHOUSE – Mishawaka High School sophomore Anna Rohrer was honored at the Statehouse with a resolution authored by State Representative Dale DeVon (R-Granger). Rohrer was recognized in House Concurrent Resolution 38 for outstanding athletic achievement in the Foot Locker High School Cross Country National Championship.
“It was a pleasure to have Anna and her parents visit the Statehouse,” said Rep. DeVon. “Anna is already incredibly accomplished in her academic and athletic career. She serves as a great role model for her peers, and I look forward to what she will achieve in the future.”
The Foot Locker High School Cross Country Nation Championship was held on Dec. 8, 2012 at Morely Field in San Diego, Calif. High school students from across the nation gather annually to participate in the cross country competition hosted by the Foot Locker.
Rohrer is the second girl in Indiana history to win the Foot Locker High School Cross Country National Championship. She won with the fourth fastest time by an underclassman in the competition history. Rohrer placed with an individual state record of 17:13.2 and set the Foot Locker Midwest Regional record with a 16:54.
Rohrer is a model student with a 4.21 GPA. Outside of school, she enjoys playing music, volunteering at local nursing homes and advocating for elementary school drug awareness programs.
“It is encouraging to see a young, bright student who works hard and serves as an example to those around her, whether it is on the track or in the classroom,” said Rep. DeVon.
