STATEHOUSE (March 6, 2017) – A local graduate is gaining experience as an intern with State Rep. Dale DeVon (R-Granger) and his fellow members of the House of Representatives during the 2017 legislative session.

Evan Truyaert, a resident of New Carlisle, is the son of Ivan and Michele Truyaert. A graduate of New Prairie High School, Truyaert earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama after majoring in criminal justice.

As a legislative intern, Truyaert corresponds with constituents through phone calls, letters and email. He also helps staff committee hearings and floor proceedings.

“An internship at the Statehouse is a very unique experience for students like Evan,” DeVon said. “Having the opportunity to develop their professional skills in a fast-paced environment during session is invaluable as interns prepare to enter the workforce.”

The House of Representatives offers paid internship opportunities to college students, law-school students, graduate students and recent college graduates for the duration of each legislative session.
