STATEHOUSE (July 2, 2019) — State Rep. Shane Lindauer (R-Jasper) will serve on the newly created Sepsis Treatment Guidelines Task Force, which will develop best practices and provide protocol recommendations to the Indiana State Department of Health.
Sepsis, which is the leading cause of death in hospitals, is a serious condition resulting from a harmful infection that spreads to the bloodstream or important tissues. In 2016, over 3,000 Hoosiers died in hospitals from sepsis, according to the Indiana Hospital Association.
“Many Hoosiers are unaware of the dangers of sepsis, and implementing measures to prevent this condition could save lives,” Lindauer said. “The sepsis-based protocols, which are being formulated, could help in the early detection and treatment of sepsis, severe sepsis and septic shock.”
Lindauer supported the new law creating the Sepsis Treatment Guidelines Task Force. He also serves as vice chair of the House Public Health Committee.
Rep. Shane Lindauer (R- Jasper) represents House District 63,
which includes portions of Daviess, Dubois, Pike and Martin counties.
