STATEHOUSE (March 2, 2022) — State Reps. Stephen Bartels (R-Eckerty) and Shane Lindauer (R-Jasper) encourage local businesses in operation for 50 years or more to apply for the Governor's Century and Half Century Business Awards before the April 1 deadline.

Lindauer said the awards recognize and honor longstanding Indiana businesses that have demonstrated a commitment to serving their communities.

"Maintaining a business for several decades is a difficult task, and shows a major commitment to customers and our communities," Lindauer said. "I encourage local businesses to apply and not miss this opportunity to be recognized for their continued efforts over the years."

Award recipients will receive a commemorative certificate and be recognized during a ceremony at the Indiana Statehouse.

"I'm excited to see what businesses reached this milestone this year and congratulate them on a job well done," Bartels said.

To qualify, a business must meet several requirements:

  • Have had continuous operations in Indiana for more than 50 or 100 years by Dec. 31, 2021;
  • Have participated in the same line of work for the duration of its operations. If different, an explanation of the evolution into the current business must be provided on the nomination form;
  • Have had its base in the state of Indiana since it was founded;
  • Recognize, acknowledge and agree that it is in full compliance with the Indiana Secretary of State; and
  • Not have previously received a Century or Half Century award from the state of Indiana. Previous Half Century award recipients may qualify for a Century award.

Bartels said for more information and to apply ahead of the April 1 deadline, visit iedc.in.gov.
