Note to the Press – State Reps. Cindy Ledbetter (R-Newburgh) and Shane Lindauer (R-Jasper) issued the following statements in response to Gov. Eric Holcomb's decision to deploy the Indiana National Guard to support the ongoing border security mission in Texas. Following the recent direct request from Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, Holcomb announced he will send 50 Hoosier guardsmen to help the Texas National Guard during a 10-month deployment:

STATEHOUSE (Feb. 9, 2024) – "As a public health professional, I know firsthand the dangers of the drugs pouring in from our open southern border. I'm thankful for Governor Holcomb's decision to support Texas and their right to defend itself from the influx of illegal immigration and lethal drugs saturating our communities and degrading our safety and security. The Biden Administration's blatant disregard for the concerns of national health and safety by supporting open borders will have devastating consequences for years to come," said State Rep. Cindy Ledbetter (R-Newburgh).

"I fully support Governor Holcomb's decision to send members of the Indiana National Guard to help stop the skyrocketing number of illegal immigrants and illegal substances flooding into our country. I have faith that our guardsmen will carry out their mission as Texas works tirelessly to defend itself in the wake of this crisis," said State Rep. Shane Lindauer (R-Jasper).
