STATEHOUSE (Nov. 20, 2024) – Ethan Lawson of Greenfield took the oath of office today to serve as state representative for House District 53, which includes portions of Hancock and Madison counties.
Indiana Supreme Court Chief Justice Loretta H. Rush administered the oath to all House lawmakers during a swearing-in ceremony in the House Chamber at the Statehouse during Organization Day, which marked the formal start to the 2025 legislative session.
"Representing House District 53 is a true privilege, and I'm already taking what I’ve heard from our neighbors across Hancock and Madison counties to the Statehouse,” Lawson said. “Listening and responding to the needs of Hoosiers throughout our communities is my top priority, and I look forward to rolling up my sleeves and getting to work to ensure our state government works for us."
Lawson earned his bachelor's and master’s degrees in business from Western Governors University. He previously worked for the Indiana National Guard and additionally volunteers as vice chair for the Hancock County Republican Party. Lawson and his wife, Holly, live in Greenfield and attend Otterbein Methodist Church.
