STATEHOUSE (Aug. 20, 2021) – The Fountain Farm in Lawrence County recently received a Hoosier Homestead Centennial Award for being in operation since 1920, according to State Rep. Chris May (R-Bedford) and State Sen. Eric Koch (R-Bedford).
"Each year I'm grateful for the many family farms still operating after a century or more," May said. "Their hard work and determination are a prime example of the enduring Hoosier spirit."
Koch said the Fountain Farm was among 73 recognized at the Indiana State Fair for their commitment to Indiana agriculture.
"I would like to congratulate the Fountain Farm on this great achievement," Koch said. "It is no easy feat to reach this century milestone in farming, and I sincerely admire the diligence this family has shown in doing so."
The Hoosier Homestead Award Program recognizes farms owned and maintained by the same family for 100 years or more. Families can qualify for centennial, sesquicentennial or bicentennial awards.
