STATEHOUSE (Jan. 9, 2025) – Applications are live for the Indiana House Page Program during the 2025 legislative session at the Statehouse in Indianapolis, according to Lake County lawmakers.
State Rep. Hal Slager (R-Schererville) said Hoosier students ages 13 to 18 are invited to spend the day assisting lawmakers and staff, touring the Indiana Statehouse and listening in on the legislative session.
"From sitting in on session to working alongside Statehouse staff, the page program is a unique experience that students should not miss out on," Slager said. "All students can benefit from meeting with lawmakers and witnessing how laws are made."
Applications are live and can be found at IndianaHouseRepublicans.com/PageProgram along with available days during the 2025 legislative session, which starts Jan. 8 and must end by April 29.
"With the House page program, students can experience the lawmaking process alongside their local legislators," said State Rep. Julie Olthoff (R-Crown Point). "I love meeting students from House District 19 and showing them the ins and outs of what I do at the Statehouse during session."
State Rep. Michael Aylesworth (R-Hebron) said interested students will have the opportunity to page on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays during the legislative session and will receive an excused absence from school. Large groups can participate on Wednesdays only. To schedule a group, contact the page program director at 317-232-9410 or pageprogram@iga.in.gov.
"The student page program is such a great opportunity for young Hoosiers to learn about government by actually participating in session," Aylesworth said. "Eligible students should sign up for the opportunity to meet their local lawmakers and explore the Statehouse."
Students are responsible for their own lunch and transportation to and from the Statehouse in Indianapolis.
