STATEHOUSE (April 1, 2025) – Kokomo native Anthony (Tony) Burton is gaining experience as an intern with State Rep. Mike Karickhoff (R-Kokomo) and his fellow members of the Indiana House of Representatives during the 2025 legislative session.
Burton, a Northwestern High School graduate, is the son of Jacquelin and Anthony Burton. He is currently earning his master's in public management and policy at Indiana University Kokomo.
"This has been a truly rewarding and eye-opening experience. Each day differs from the last and has its own obstacles," Burton said. "Being able to participate in this program has pushed the boundaries of what I thought I was capable of and what I am hoping I will accomplish in the future."
As a legislative intern, Burton corresponds with constituents through phone calls, letters and emails while also staffing committee hearings and floor proceedings.
"Anthony is participating in meaningful work here at the Statehouse," Karickhoff said. "Legislative interns like him are incredibly helpful to both members and constituents throughout session and I look forward to seeing what he accomplishes in the future."
At the start of each year, the House of Representatives offers paid internship opportunities to college students, law-school students, graduate students and recent college graduates for the duration of the annual legislative session.
