STATEHOUSE (Aug. 28, 2024) – Applications to intern with Indiana House Republicans for the 2025 legislative session are now open, according to State Reps. Mike Karickhoff (R-Kokomo) and Heath VanNatter (R-Kokomo).

Karickhoff said the Indiana House of Representatives offers a spring semester internship at the Statehouse in Indianapolis during the legislative session, which will start in January and conclude in April. House interns earn $900 biweekly and work full time, Monday through Friday.

"This internship helps build skills that employers are looking for like teamwork, time management and prioritization," Karickhoff said. "This program can also open doors to a career whether that's in the private or public sector."

VanNatter said internships are open to college students and recent graduates of all majors. Interns get free parking, career and professional development assistance, enrollment access to an Indiana government class, and opportunities to earn academic credits through their college or university.

"Interning at the Statehouse is a great opportunity for students and new graduates to apply what they've learned in the classroom to a professional setting," VanNatter said. "This program gives students a solid foundation for their resumes, and helps them build skills that they can use in any profession."

Interns are also eligible to apply for a competitive $3,000 scholarship to use toward undergraduate and graduate expenses.

The program offers opportunities for students to work in various departments related to their studies, including legislative operations, policy and communications.

Applications are available online at indianahouserepublicans.com/internship and are due by Oct. 31.
