STATEHOUSE (March 11, 2022) – State Rep. Bruce Borders (R-Jasonville) and State Rep. Matt Hostettler (R-Patoka) recently welcomed local students to the Statehouse where they participated in the Indiana House Page Program.
According to Borders, the students toured offices of all branches of government in the Statehouse, helped staff with daily responsibilities and joined him and Hostettler on the House floor to witness the legislative process.
"This educational opportunity can be extremely rewarding for young Hoosiers," Borders said. "These three students learned a lot about the legislative process up close and firsthand. I always enjoy seeing their interest in state government grow as they explore the Statehouse and interact with members."
These area students served as pages during the 2022 legislative session:
"Pages are very helpful, performing tasks on the House floor and assisting legislators with daily responsibilities," Hostettler said. "In addition to helping staff and lawmakers, these young Hoosiers were able to meet other students from around the state. It's a fun-filled day, and I hope Evelynn, Faith and Hope enjoyed their visit."
Hostettler said students between the ages of 13 and 18 should consider participating during the 2023 session.
