STATEHOUSE (Sept. 20, 2017) — Local communities will receive state matching grants to improve roads and bridges, according to State Rep. Mike Karickhoff (R-Kokomo).
More than $150 million was awarded to Indiana cities, towns and counties through the Community Crossings grant program, which is now in its second year. The grants are available through the Indiana Department of Transportation as a result of legislation supported by Karickhoff in 2016.
“Our communities will greatly benefit from these grants, which will help in efforts to repair and maintain local roads and bridges,” Karickhoff said. “These upgrades to our infrastructure will better ensure our roads are safer to travel for work or play, as well as help our economy grow.”
As part of the program, Grant County received $655,702 and Howard County received $650,951 for road and bridge improvements. In addition, nine local communities were awarded grants:

Projects eligible for funding through Community Crossings include road and bridge preservation, road reconstruction, intersection improvements, small structure replacements, guardrail replacements and signs.
