STATEHOUSE (June 21, 2018) — State Rep. Chris Judy (R-Fort Wayne) was recently selected to serve on the Interim Study Committee on Public Safety and Military Affairs.
Interim study committees examine assigned topics, gather testimonies and potentially recommend legislation.
Judy said in the upcoming months, his assigned committee will examine professional licensing as it relates to the credentials military persons and their spouses already hold and if they may be applied to obtaining a similar Indiana license. The committee will also study whether to construct an injured public safety officer monument and how to better assist veterans in the court system.
“Hearing from the public and experts on these topics allows lawmakers to better understand if there is a need for legislative action,” Judy said. “It’s an essential part of the lawmaking process and I look forward to working on these issues.”
Judy said interim study committee hearings, which typically occur at the Statehouse in Indianapolis, can be viewed live online at iga.in.gov. This site also provides committee calendars and meeting agendas. Members of the public are welcome to attend and testify.
State Rep. Chris Judy (R-Fort Wayne) represents House District 83,
which includes portions of Whitley and Allen counties.
