STATEHOUSE (April 12, 2018) — Local businesses on Wednesday at the Statehouse received the Governor’s Century and Half Century Business Award for their contributions to the community, according to State Rep. Chris Judy (R-Auburn).

“Businesses that sustain a lengthy tenure, like KPC Media and Bayman Auctioneers, form our economic foundation,” Judy said. “Employers that serve people for many years end up contributing much more than monetary value to the communities they serve, they also become part of the social fabric. Being able to do that for 50 years, let alone 100, is an impressive feat worthy of recognition.”

Judy said KPC Media, in operation for 115 years, provides print and digital news to northeast Indiana residents. While they have offices and publications throughout the area, the group would be best known to locals for IN|Whitley County, the only free, all-local newspaper delivered by mail to county residents.

Bayman Auctioneers specializes in the sale of real estate that includes agricultural and personal property, and holds approximately 70 auctions a year. Started in 1961 by Louis Bayman, his son Jim now runs the operation in South Whitley.

The Governor’s Century and Half Century Business Awards honor Hoosier businesses that have remained in operation for a minimum of 100 or 50 consecutive years and have demonstrated a commitment to community service. Visit www.iedc.in.gov to learn more.
