STATEHOUSE (Oct. 16, 2018) – College students and recent graduates seeking an internship with the Indiana House of Representatives must submit their applications before the Oct. 31 deadline, according to State Rep. Chris Judy (R-Fort Wayne).
House internships are paid positions during the legislative session lasting from January through April. Judy said while employed full time at the Statehouse in Indianapolis, interns can develop valuable skills while working one-on-one with state legislators and staff.
“Employers value internships because they provide students with experience and help them gain skills outside of the classroom,” Judy said. “As an integral component of our House staff, our interns develop desired qualifications to help them thrive as they begin their careers.”
College sophomores, juniors and seniors, graduate students, and recent graduates of all majors are eligible to apply. Internship positions are available in a variety of departments including legislative, communications and media relations, policy or fiscal policy.
“There’s much to learn and experience while working at the Statehouse in Indianapolis,” Judy said. “The bi-weekly compensation, scholarship possibilities and numerous networking opportunities make this a very beneficial internship.”
When applying, students must also submit an official transcript, resume and two letters of recommendation.
