STATEHOUSE (July 12, 2024) – Jay County legislators recently received appointments to serve on interim study committees, which will meet throughout the summer and fall to explore policy issues and work together to identify solutions.

Legislators will hear testimony from the public, various experts and stakeholders as they work on bill recommendations ahead of the budget session in January.

State Rep. Matt Lehman (R-Berne) will serve as chair of the Legislative Council's Audit and Financial Reporting Subcommittee, and the Oral History Project Advisory Commission, and co-chair of the Legislative Continuity Committee. He will also serve as a member of the Legislative Council, the Legislative State of Emergency Advisory Group, the Artificial Intelligence Task Force, the Indiana Semiquincentennial Commission, and the Interim Study Committee on Commerce and Economic Development.

"Having these discussions over the interim provides lawmakers the chance to examine a variety of proposed topics geared toward improving the lives of Hoosiers," Lehman said. "This summer and fall, the Artificial Intelligence Task Force will do a deep dive on the use of artificial intelligence technology within state agencies and the potential risks that come with this new technology."

State Rep. J.D. Prescott (R-Union City) will serve as a member of the Corn Marketing Council, and the Interim Study Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources.
