STATEHOUSE (Dec. 15, 2022) – State Reps. Matt Lehman (R-Berne) and J.D. Prescott (R-Union City) received appointments to serve on key House standing committees at the Statehouse.

House standing committee appointments are made by the Indiana House Speaker biennially after the November election and are in effect for the duration of members' two-year terms. Lehman will serve on the House Commerce, Small Business and Economic Development Committee, the House Insurance Committee and the House Public Policy Committee. He was also reappointed as Majority Floor Leader, a House Republican leadership position.

"This legislative session will be very busy as we look for additional ways to propel our communities and state forward," Lehman said. "We'll be taking a close look at several important issues impacting Hoosiers, from lowering health care costs to supporting economic development opportunities, and I look forward to getting to work."

Prescott will serve as a member of the House Agriculture and Rural Development Committee, the House Judiciary Committee, and the House Ways and Means Committee.

"As a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, I look forward to helping craft Indiana's next two-year balanced budget that makes responsible investments and saves for an economic downturn," Prescott said. "I'll also look for ways we can ensure Hoosiers keep more of their hard-earned money and the state doesn't take in more than it needs."

House lawmakers are scheduled to convene for session at 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 9. Hoosiers can visit iga.in.gov to find legislation, view calendars, and watch committee meetings and session.
