STATEHOUSE (Aug. 14, 2025) – The Hayworth Farm in Jasper County recently received a Hoosier Homestead Centennial Award for being in operation since 1918, according to State Rep. Kendell Culp (R-Rensselaer) and State Sen. Rick Niemeyer (R-Lowell).
"No one works harder than the farm families who have provided our communities with fresh and wholesome food for generations," Culp said. "Hoosier Homestead awards are just one way we can thank these longstanding farms."
Hoosier Homestead awards honor farms owned and operated by the same family for 100, 150 and 200 years with centennial, sesquicentennial or bicentennial awards.
"Farming is deeply rooted in Indiana's culture, going back for generations in many families throughout the state," Niemeyer said. "I congratulate the Hayworth Farm for receiving this incredible distinction and thank them for their dedication and commitment to maintaining their family legacy."
This farm family was among 95 awardees recently honored during a ceremony at the Indiana State Fair.
Hoosier Homestead ceremonies are conducted every spring and summer. Since establishing the program in 1976, Indiana has recognized more than 6,000 farms for their economic and cultural impact to the state.
