INDIANAPOLIS (Feb. 1, 2016) – The House of Representatives voted unanimously today in support of State Rep. Bruce Borders’ (R-Jasonville) bill extending employment protections to National Guard members who work here in Indiana but are ordered to active duty by the governor of another state.

“It’s important to protect the employment rights of our National Guardsman, regardless of where they may be deployed to for active duty,” Borders said. “My proposal will make sure their employment rights are protected.”

Borders said House Bill 1373 would provide protections under both the federal Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act and Servicemembers Civil Relief Act.

Borders’ bill can now be considered by the Senate.
