Henry County legislators encourage storm victims to access recovery assistance at one-stop shop

STATEHOUSE (Sept. 14, 2026) – Henry County legislators are encouraging residents impacted by the August severe weather and flooding to take advantage of an upcoming one-stop shop connecting residents with state and federal recovery resources.

The Henry County one-stop shop will be held at First Baptist Church, 709 S. Memorial Drive in New Castle, on Tuesday, Sept. 15, from noon to 8 p.m. ET and Wednesday, Sept. 16, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET.

Representatives from multiple agencies will be available at the one-stop shop to provide information about available assistance and help residents navigate the recovery process. Several services may be completed on-site.

"Recovery takes time, and we want Henry County residents to have a clear path to the assistance available to them," said State Rep. Brad Barrett (R-Richmond). "Bringing these resources together in one location will make it easier for residents to get answers and take the next steps toward rebuilding."

Available services may include:

• Federal assistance: FEMA Individual Assistance application support and U.S. Small Business Administration disaster loan information;
• Housing support: Temporary housing assistance;
• Social services: Crisis counseling and mental health service referrals;
• Insurance guidance: Help reviewing insurance policies and replacing documents;
• Motor vehicle assistance: Support with registrations and licenses;
• Public health resources: Vaccination records, vital records, tetanus shots and cleanup guidance; and
• State Disaster Relief Fund: Assistance with SDRF applications.

"Many families are still dealing with the effects of the storms, and having these agencies in one place can make the recovery process a little easier," said State Rep. Cory Criswell (R-Middletown). "I encourage residents to stop by, ask questions and find out what resources may be available to them."

State Rep. J.D. Prescott (R-Union City) said residents should bring a valid state ID if they have one. Transportation services may be available in certain communities. Individuals who need transportation assistance can call 211 or 866-211-9966.

"Getting people connected with the right resources is one of the most important things we can do as our communities recover," Prescott said. "If your home, property or livelihood was impacted, I encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about the assistance available."
