STATEHOUSE (Oct. 16, 2025) – Indiana House Republicans are seeking student interns for the 2026 legislative session, according to Henry County legislators.

These paid, full-time internships are open to college students, recent graduates and students in graduate and law school. State Rep. Brad Barrett (R-Richmond) said the internship is an opportunity to gain practical knowledge of state government through active participation in the legislative process.

“I hope students in our area will take advantage of this program,” Barrett said. “It offers hands-on learning, practical skills and an experience that truly influences their future.”

State Rep. Cory Criswell (R-Middletown) said interns will work in the Statehouse in downtown Indianapolis full time Monday through Friday during the legislative session, which starts in January and concludes in March.

“When talking to former interns, the one thing they always mention is how much confidence they gained,” Criswell said. “They walk away knowing they can handle challenges and contribute in meaningful ways.”

Positions are available in legislative operations, policy and communications.

State Rep. J.D. Prescott (R-Union City) said interns will be paired with a staff member to work directly with an assigned group of state representatives. During this spring semester internship, students will have opportunities to interact with state legislators, state agencies and private sector organizations, as well as participate in a weekly speaker series featuring Indiana civic leaders.

“With every internship class I've had the pleasure of working with, their skills grew and they made important connections during their time at the Statehouse," Prescott said. "It’s rewarding to see students discover their strengths and how their experience follows them long after the internship ends.”

Applications are available online at indianahouserepublicans.com/internship and are due by Oct. 31.
