STATEHOUSE (Oct. 16, 2018) – College students and recent graduates seeking an internship with the Indiana House of Representatives must submit their applications before the Oct. 31 deadline, according to State Rep. Dave Heine (New Haven).
House internships are paid positions during the legislative session lasting from January through April. Heine said while employed full time at the Statehouse in Indianapolis, interns can develop valuable skills while working one-on-one with state legislators and staff.
“These positions are fast-paced and keep our interns involved,” Heine said. “Without a doubt, each day cultivates an atmosphere where critical thinking skills are put to the test. Young men and women who participated in the program have shared how rewarding this experience was for them, and I believe others in our community could benefit from the opportunity.”
College sophomores, juniors and seniors, graduate students, and recent graduates of all majors are eligible to apply. Internship positions are available in a variety of departments including legislative, communications and media relations, policy or fiscal policy.
When applying, students must also submit an official transcript, resume and two letters of recommendation.
