STATEHOUSE (Dec. 22, 2020) – State Rep. Bob Heaton (R-Terre Haute) was recently reappointed to two House standing committees and as majority whip for the Indiana House Republican Caucus.

Heaton will once again serve as chair of the Higher Education Subcommittee of Ways and Means, which is part of the committee responsible for drafting the state's next biennial budget.

"As we continue to manage through this pandemic, we are also focused on passing a balanced budget that continues to fund essential services," Heaton said. "It's critical that Indiana maintains healthy reserves and lives within its means."

As majority whip, Heaton will work with caucus members on critical issues facing the state. He was also reappointed to the Financial Institutions and Insurance Committee. Heaton said he will use his decades of experience in financial services, including running his own business, to provide insight during committee meetings.

House standing committees will meet throughout the legislative session, which is scheduled to kick off on Jan. 4.
