STATEHOUSE (Oct. 7, 2025) – Indiana House Republicans are seeking student interns for the 2026 legislative session, according to Hancock County legislators.
These paid, full-time internships are open to college students, recent graduates and students in graduate and law school. Ethan Lawson (R-Greenfield) said the internship is an opportunity to gain practical knowledge of state government through active participation in the legislative process.
“An internship at the Statehouse is a tremendous learning experience," Lawson said. "Students quickly see how decisions made here affect our communities. Interns also play an important role by making sure information moves smoothly between our neighbors across the district and legislators.”
State Rep. Cory Criswell (R-Middletown) said interns will work in the Statehouse in downtown Indianapolis full time Monday through Friday during the legislative session, which starts in January and concludes in March.
"When talking to former interns, the one thing they always mention is how much confidence they gained," Criswell said. "They walk away knowing they can handle challenges and contribute in meaningful ways."
Positions are available in legislative operations, policy and communications.
State Rep. Chris Jeter (R-Fishers) said interns will be paired with a staff member to work directly with an assigned group of state representatives. During this spring semester internship, students will have opportunities to interact with state legislators, state agencies and private sector organizations, as well as participate in a weekly speaker series featuring Indiana civic leaders.
"Every year, interns become trusted members of our team, working alongside staff and legislators on important projects," said State Rep. Chris Jeter (R-Fishers). "It’s an excellent opportunity to understand how policy decisions are made and how ideas turn into law."
Applications are available online at indianahouserepublicans.com/internship and are due by Oct. 31.
