STATEHOUSE (July 29, 2016) — The Richmond State Hospital will receive nearly $136,000 from the state to replace an outdated water heater, according to State Rep. Dick Hamm (R-Richmond).

Hamm said the funds were approved at Friday’s State Budget Committee hearing. The water heater has been patched and repaired numerous times; however, due to the extent of the repairs, the unit is no longer in compliance with the Department of Homeland Security’s Pressure Vessel Division.

“This is a great movement by the committee to continue to improve this facility serving some of our most vulnerable citizens,” Hamm said. “At some point, I hope we will be able to secure additional funding for many more projects needed at the state hospital.”

The water heater was originally installed with the completion of the steam plant construction in 1957.
