STATEHOUSE (Sept. 20, 2017) — Local communities will receive state matching grants to improve roads and bridges, according to State Rep. Dick Hamm (R-Richmond).

More than $150 million was awarded to Indiana cities, towns and counties through the Community Crossings grant program, which is now in its second year. The grants are available through the Indiana Department of Transportation as a result of legislation supported by Hamm in 2016.

“These grants will provide our local communities the additional funding they need to help complete road and bridge projects,” Hamm said. “I’m looking forward to smoother, safer roadways in our county.”

This grant program will award Wayne County with $500,000; Hagerstown will receive $269,925 and Richmond will receive $548,459.

Projects eligible for funding through Community Crossings include road and bridge preservation, road reconstruction, intersection improvements, small structure replacements, guardrail replacements and signs.
