Caption: Gov. Mike Braun (seated) ceremonially signs a new law co-sponsored by State Rep. Lorissa Sweet (R-Wabash) (far left) to strengthen public safety by banning signal jamming devices on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2025, at the Statehouse in Indianapolis. These devices block electronic communications to confuse security systems and evade law enforcement. The new law criminalizes the use, sale, manufacturing and distribution of radio frequency jamming devices unless authorized by federal law. The new law also adds protections for Indiana’s critical infrastructure by explicitly including wires and equipment used to provide communications service to a customer, allowing prosecutors to hold criminals accountable for damaging vital networks. Also pictured are law co-author State Sen. Blake Doriot (R-Goshen) (center, standing) and law sponsor State Rep. Cindy Ledbetter (R-Newburgh) (far right).
