Note to the Press – State Rep. Lori Goss-Reaves (R-Marion) issued the following statement in response to Gov. Eric Holcomb's decision to deploy the Indiana National Guard to support the ongoing border security mission in Texas. Following the recent direct request from Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, Holcomb announced he will send 50 Hoosier guardsman to help the Texas National Guard during a 10-month deployment:

STATEHOUSE (Feb. 12, 2024) – "I fully support Governor Holcomb's decision to send our state's dedicated National Guard members to help Texans as they defend and protect the state from the record high illegal border crossings. The flow of illegal drugs, like fentanyl, has had devastating effects on our local communities, and we know a primary pipeline for these drugs is through the southern border. Unfortunately, we’re witnessing a national security and humanitarian crisis that will have lasting and overwhelming effects on our country and its citizens for many years to come. The lack of any meaningful response from the federal government is an utter disgrace. " said State Rep. Lori Goss-Reaves (R-Marion).
