STATEHOUSE (Aug. 7, 2024) – State Rep. Lori Goss-Reaves (R-Marion) posthumously presented a Circle of Corydon Award to Kerry Clevenger of Marion on Sunday at the Grant County Family YMCA.

Kerry Clevenger's wife, Wanda, as well as his adult children Kasey and Kellie, accepted the award on his behalf. Clevenger, 80, passed away in January, after a brief illness. He was a member of the Elks and Eagles. He also served as a board member for many community organizations. Kerry owned several businesses, including the Plymouth Club, Crest Lanes Bowling Center, Moon Vending, and Maxx Tan.

"Kerry's love for his family and our community will be remembered with deep respect and gratitude," Goss-Reaves said. "I'm thankful to have been able to present this award in recognition of all he did and the generous way he served our community."

Clevenger received many community and state awards, including the NAACP Community Service Award, Sertoma Service to Mankind, Mr. Pal Club, and Indiana Sagamore of the Wabash. He was inducted into the Marion Bowling Hall of Fame, Indiana Softball Hall of Fame, Grant County Athletic Hall of Fame, and the Marion High School Hall of Distinction.

The Circle of Corydon Award was established by the governor in 2017 to recognize Hoosiers who have made remarkable contributions to the betterment of Indiana and its people, demonstrating through life and service qualities exemplified by the state’s greatest citizens. This is the only award issued and signed jointly by members of both the executive and legislative branches.
