STATEHOUSE (May 8, 2023) – State Reps. Mark Genda (R-Frankfort) and Heath VanNatter (R-Kokomo) recently welcomed local students to the Statehouse where they participated in the Indiana House Page Program during the 2023 legislative session.

As pages, the students assisted lawmakers and staff with daily duties, toured offices of all branches of government in the Statehouse, and joined Genda and VanNatter on the House floor to witness and learn about the legislative process.

"Taking part in the page program gives students the chance to meet and interact with various state leaders," Genda said. "It was encouraging to speak with these young Hoosiers and see them leave with a better understanding of the legislative process."

Area students serving as pages during the 2023 legislative session were Peyton Moss from Rossville, who attends Rossville Middle/High School, and Chloe Wright, from Colfax, who attends Clinton Prairie High School.

"This is a great way for students to jumpstart their civic engagement and learn how their state government works," VanNatter said. "It also helps young Hoosiers develop an understanding of how laws are created and encourages them to stay involved moving forward."

VanNatter said students ages 13 to 18 should consider participating during the 2024 legislative session.
